چکیده

We have obtained Spitzer Space Telescope MIPS (Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer) observations of 39AthroughM-type dwarfs, with estimated ages between 12 and 600Myr; IRACobservations for a subset of 11 stars; and follow-up CSO SHARC II 350 m observations for a subset of two stars. None of the objects observed with IRAC possess infrared excesses at 3.6–8.0 m; however, seven objects observed with MIPS possess 24 and/or 70 m excesses. Four objects ( Phe, HD 92945, HD 119124, and AU Mic), with estimated ages 12–200 Myr, possess strong 70 m excesses, 100% larger than their predicted photospheres, and no 24 m excesses, suggesting that the dust grains in these systems are cold. One object (HD 112429) possesses moderate 24 and 70 m excesses with a color temperature, Tgr 1⁄4 100K. Two objects ( 1 Lib and HD 177724) possess such strong 24 m excesses that their 12, 24, and 70 m fluxes cannot be self-consistently modeled using a modified blackbody despite a 70 m excess >2 times greater than the photosphere around 1 Lib. The strong 24 m excesses may be the result of emission in spectral features, as observed toward the Hale-Bopp star HD 69830. Debris Disks around Nearby Stars with Circumstellar Gas

We conducted a survey for infrared excess emission from 16 nearby main sequence shell stars using the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) on the Spitzer Space Telescope. Shell stars are early-type stars with narrow absorption lines in their spectra that appear to arise from circumstellar (CS) gas. Four of the 16 stars in our survey showed excess emission at 24 μm and 70 μm character...

Dusty Debris Disks as Signposts of Planets: Implications for Spitzer Space Telescope

Submillimeter and near-infrared images of cool dusty debris disks and rings suggest the existence of unseen planets. At dusty but nonimaged stars, semimajor axes of associated planets can be estimated from the dust temperature. For some young stars these semimajor axes are greater than 100 as seen from Earth. Such stars are excellent targets for sensitive near-infrared imaging searches for warm...

A Spitzer Study of Debris Disks in the Young Nearby Cluster Ngc 2232: Icy Planets Are Common around 1.5y3 M Stars

We describe Spitzer IRAC and MIPS observations of the nearby 25 Myr old open cluster NGC 2232. Combining these data with ROSATAll-Sky Survey observations, proper motions, and optical photometry/spectroscopy, we construct a list of highly probable cluster members. We identify one A-type star, HD 45435, that has definite excess emission at 4.5Y24 m indicative of debris from terrestrial planet for...

Evolution of Dusty Disks in Nearby Young Stellar Groups

Given their proximity and age differences, nearby groups of young stars are valuable laboratories for investigations of disk evolution and diversity. The estimated 10-Myr age of groups like the TW Hydrae Association provides a strong constraint on disk evolution timescales and fills a significant gap in the age sequence between 1-Myr-old T Tauri stars in molecular clouds and 50-Myr-old nearby o...

Resolved Millimeter-wavelength Observations of Debris Disks around Sun-like Stars

The presence of debris disks around young main sequence stars hints at the existence and structure of hidden planetary systems. Spatially resolved observations are crucial to characterize the structure of the dust disk. The FEPS (Formation and Evolution of Planetary Systems) Spitzer Legacy survey of nearby young solar analogues yielded a sample of five debris disk-hosting stars with millimeter ...
